CASTEN TO HOST SECRETARY GRANHOLM FOR ILLINOIS CLEAN ENERGY INNOVATION TOUR

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Thursday, December 9th through Friday, December 10th, U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm will visit Illinois for a Clean Energy Innovation Tour highlighting how the historic climate investments of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and President Biden's Build Back Better Agenda will help lower energy costs and generate good-paying, union jobs.

In Illinois, Secretary Granholm will be joined by Governor J.B. Pritzker and U.S. Representatives Sean Casten (IL-06), Bill Foster (IL-11), Bobby Rush (IL-01), and Lauren Underwood (IL-14) to tour Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory.

In August, Casten hosted White House Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy for a Climate Innovation Tour highlighting the imperative for federal investments in climate and clean energy in the Midwest—from job creation, to public health and environmental justice.

After joining Speaker Pelosi for the COP26 UN Climate Summit in Glasgow, Casten - who spent two decades as a clean energy entrepreneur and engineer before coming to Congress - continues to lead his Democratic colleagues in the fight to ensure that Congress builds on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act signed into law in November by passing the Build Back Better Act with clean energy investments at the scale scientifically necessary to combat the climate crisis and ensure Illinois is positioned to lead at the forefront of clean energy innovation and economic opportunity.
